Hello & happy FriYAY everyone! 🌸 I don’t know about you guys but I am about over winter and am in need of some springy weather right now. I am someone who thrives off of sunshine and sometimes in the winter it seems like the sunshine never wants to come out. It is starting to warm up a little bit this week where I am in NY, but there is still plenty of snow that can just disappear anytime now! The hardest part about winter for me is feeling like I can’t be outside because most of the time it’s either freezing or the weather is bad.. or both. But me being me I always try to be positive & figured I would help you guys out too!
I figured that now is about the time of year that everyone is kind of in that winter slump... dreaming of spring days and nicer weather. That means that it is the perfect time to share 10 tips on things to do this time of year to get out of that slump and back to feeling your best! ✨
Tip 1: Get outside on nice days even if there is snow! Visit a park near you to walk around or take your pup outside for a walk. Even going for a drive to soak up some sunshine and get out is something that I like to do. Soak up all the vitamin D you can get! 🌞
Tip 2: Take a day trip somewhere! Even if it is to somewhere with snow adventuring always puts me in the best of moods (taking a day trip up to Old Forge tomorrow & am SO excited!) Taking a day and some time to get out of your home or city can do wonders. A lot of the time in the winter I feel “stuck” in a sense that I end up in a routine that doesn’t change much because of the weather and just the dreary-ness of winter itself. Taking yourself out of your normal routine will refresh you and get you in a better mindset and allow you to reset.
Tip 3: Change up your routine - going along with the previous tip. Not everything needs to change or you could end up all out of whack but try switching out one or two things! By doing so it will give you just that little bit of change that you might be needing. Swap out 30 mins of watching your TV show and read a book, instead of scrolling through your phone try journaling. These little things can make a big difference in how you feel & this tip I have been trying out and it has been working wonders! 📖
Tip 4: Shop til’ you drop! OK maybe not till you drop.. but bare with me, hahaha. Now I know online shopping is a million times easier than going out, but get yourself ready & spend a morning or afternoon shopping! 👜 Just getting out & maybe even treating yourself to a new outfit is almost 100% guaranteed to get you over your winter blues.
Tip 5: Grab a springy drink or treat! I am someone who always gets an iced coffee.. so if you are like me and always gets the same drink, lets try to switch it up and try something new! Get something springy like an iced tea or even a super yummy coffee. Recently I tried a strawberry acai refresher at Starbs and it was delish! Highly recommend trying it if you haven't. Or if you are not into those try a new treat or food, always fun as well!
Tip 6: Get movin'! If you have fallen off your health kick that you started for the New Year (no worries girl, I did too), this is the perfect time to get going again! 👊🏃 Start working out, eating healthy & taking care of yourself. Figure out what kind of workouts you enjoy and fill your body up with healthy, clean foods that will make you feel amazing and full of energy. Set your goals and start working towards them! Probably the best tip I have & it has been working amazingly for me to get me out of my winter blues.
Tip 7: Buy yourself some flowers. Nothing says spring more than a bouquet of fresh flowers, need I say more? 🌷
Tip 8: Plan for the future. Start brainstorming of things you want to do and then plan something! Whether it be a vaca 🌴 , day trip, girls day, date night w/ the bf, self care day, hair or nail appt .. anything that will get you excited and not thinking about what has you feeling down.
Tip 9: Try something new. Try bullet journaling, or making a habit tracker. Do a new craft, cook a meal you've never tried, or work on a new skill. Learning and creating stuff always gets my brain going and makes me feel extra productive.
Tip 10: Spend time with your family & friends. This is something that I always find the easiest thing to do when trying to get out of a slump. Spending time with those who care about you always makes you feel better & refreshed. Definitely put this tip to the test, it won't disappoint 💕
Let's all hang in there and get through the last stretch of winter together, spring is on its way!🌷 Hoping these tips help you refresh your routine and how you are feeling, too. Let me know if you are going to try any of these tips out or if you have any other tips in the comments below, I'd love to hear them!
Until next time,
Michelle Elizabeth💕
